Bertito David left the Philippines after his father passed away at a young age, leaving his mother to take care of 5 children on her own. At 16 years old, he came to the U.S. by way of Guam to join his older brother. He worked at Ace Hardware store delivering appliances and gas tanks to help provide for his mother and siblings in the Philippines. He later put himself through college working as a janitor for a department store.
Through his hard work, Bertito became an Engineer and will be retiring in 2017. He is known in the family to advocate the value of a good education. If ever any of his nieces or nephews begins falling off track, he is the person who keeps them in line and college bound.
He currently lives in Sugar Land, Texas with his wife and is looking forward to moving back to California to be closer to his two adult children and grandson.
