#WeMakeAmericaWork! On May 1st, International Workers’ Day, SEIU Locals and our allies will come together to stand in solidarity with immigrant communities through large-scale mobilization actions across the country. We will honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions that all workers make to our families, communities, and economy. At the same time, we will expose the scapegoating of immigrants and cruel tactics designed to distract us from the issues that truly affect working people—like the soaring cost of living and the urgent need for affordable healthcare—while corporations and billionaires continue to enjoy tax breaks. Let’s show that working people from all backgrounds are who truly make this country run.

Description: We are raising awareness on crucial issues affecting us, our families, and our communities. With so many changes in federal policy affecting immigrants, workers, and the economic stability of millions of people and families – we are uniting to march for greater social justice, dignified economics for our labor and retirement, and equality for all, regardless of status or personal means. We support our immigrant neighbors, we support workers fighting against corporate greed, we support historical gains won through civil rights lawsuits, we support social safety net programs, and we support equal opportunity for all to live in this nation without oppressive forces infringing upon our freedom. We stand in solidarity with thousands throughout the Yakima Valley who share our grievances and have personal testimonies as well.
The theme for this year is Marching for Justice, Equality, and Dignity to highlight our demand for the rightful treatment of every person with fair policies and equal application of the law. All human beings must be treated with justice regardless of immigration status, recognizing the contributions of immigrants as essential to the nation’s growth and success. Together, we will march to let our voices be heard loud and clear! Please note this is a family-friendly event with musical performances, food, speakers, and family resources.
