Update: On November 19, 2025, a federal New York judge kòmande an emergency postponement of the termination of Syrian TPS, preventing TPS holders from losing TPS and related work authorization. On September 22, 2025, the Trump administration deside to terminate TPS for Syrian TPS holders. The Trump Department of Homeland Security scheduled TPS from Syria to end effective November 21, 2025. Please stay tuned for further developments.
Li enpòtan pou moun ki gen TPS yo imedyatman chèche konsèy legal nan men yon avoka imigrasyon ou fè konfyans pou plis enfòmasyon sou sa a oswa nenpòt lòt soulajman imigrasyon ki ka disponib pou ou.
- TPS holders continue to be authorized to work unless and until a further court order pauses or reverses the postponement.
- Yon moun ki gen TPS ki te aplike pou lòt soulajman imigrasyon, pa egzanp azil, ka otorize pou travay sou baz yon lòt aplikasyon annatant, epi li ka bay prèv lòt fòm otorizasyon travay bay anplwayè yo.
- TPS holders from Syria currently continue to be employment authorized until a court decision states otherwise.
- If your employer asks, you can show them November 19, 2025, federal court order, ordering a pause on termination of TPS and related work authorization for Syrian TPS holders, along with your current work permit.
-
If your employer asks, and you have work authorization pursuant to another form of immigration relief, such as a pending asylum claim, you can show them your work permit pursuant to other immigration relief.

Yes, there is a lawsuit pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York challenging the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Syrians. This case is Doe v. Noem, Case No. 25-cv-8686 (S.D.N.Y.). On November 19, 2025, the Court ordered an emergency postponement of the termination of Syrian TPS (slated to take effect, Friday, November 21). As a result, more than 6,100 Syrian TPS-holders will be able to keep their TPS and related work authorization and protected from deportation—unless and until a further court order pauses or reverses the postponement. We expect this decision to be appealed, but celebrate the win.
