JeanCarlos has called the United States home since he was 6 years old.He is a DACA recipient, a father, a husband, and a brother. Last year, ICE showed up to his mother’s front door as he was dropping off his kids, and detained him on the spot.His sister speaks for their whole family: “My brother has left a very painful void in our lives, especially for his young children, who suffer greatly without their father”While behind bars, he received approval for his DACA renewal, but remains detained since May last year.His story must be told. I have very few photos from my life before I arrived in America. At some point, I had a picture of my sisters and me when they visited Honduras after my first child was born. But when I started working in America, someone robbed me and took my pocketbook where I had the photo. That loss didn’t keep me from having a good life here though.
