TPS for Burma has ended, along with TPS-related work authorization for Burmese TPS holders while the legal challenge to the Trump administration’s termination of Burmese TPS continues.
On November 24, 2025, the Trump administration deside to terminate TPS for Burmese TPS holders. The Trump Department of Homeland Security scheduled TPS for Burma to end effective January 26, 2026, causing TPS holders to lose TPS and related work authorization.

On December 19, 2025, advocates filed a challenge to the Trump administration’s termination of TPS for Myanmar (Burma) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. On January 23, 2026, the federal district court postponed the termination of TPS for Myanmar (Burma). On August 7, 2026, the federal court allowed for the end of TPS for Burma while the court case continued. As such, Burmese TPS and related work authorization has ended.
